In case you missed the latest TikTok tales: Updates on fonts, effects, music, and money!

A new typeface

Say hello to a bespoke new font – TikTok Sans! This is a seemingly small change, but one that changes the look and feel of TikTok. It was inspired by “creative self-expression” for the global community. This update is a reminder that every detail counts when it comes to user experience. Fonts affect legibility and when dealing with a global audience, multi-language versatility is required.

More ways for creators to monetise content

TikTok has expanded its range of monetisation features to help creators source opportunities to be compensated in authentic ways. Effect Creator Awards is an initiative to reward creators for high-performing effects. The fund is available in select regions and rewarded based on engagement. What’s more, Effect House beta has been launched to help designers, creators, and developers with development tools, guides, and learning resources. Branded Effects can be bundled with Branded Mission, In-feed ads, Top View ads or any of our standard ad formats.

The Creativity Program Beta is designed to encourage a top-performing calibre of creators in BR, FR, and the US to unleash creativity, generate higher revenue potential and unlock more exciting, real-world opportunities. It provides them with higher average gross revenue for qualifying videos.

The TikTok Commercial Music Library

Since music and sound are core to the TikTok experience, the app is providing businesses with access to the Commercial Music Library, a pre-cleared global music library that helps make it easier for brands to find music to soundtrack their content on TikTok. It contains over one million songs and sounds from both emerging and established artists. The Artist Impact Program is another newly launched program which allows artists to monetise their music on TikTok by allowing businesses to use it in their content.

Effect House Branded Effects

Effect House Branded Effects allows brands to sponsor creators to produce custom Branded Effects. This allows for tailored content that drives greater storytelling and connection. There are now also paid branding traffic solutions, controlled pinned videos on the effect detail page, and premium placements on the trending tab of the effect panel.

Updates

Other notable updates include TikTok Stickers, an Entertainment Tool, and Expanded Translation Options.

  • The entertainment feature has been developed in partnership with IMDb and allows creators to link movie and television titles in their videos (which are only available for users in the US and UK at the moment).
  • The Voice Filter tools provide more sound options when creating so that you can change your voice to all sorts of options such as Trickster and Granny!
  • React to DMs with Customised TikTok Stickers which you can create and share for all to use.
  • Expanded translation tools are aiding accessibility so that people who don’t speak the same language can still connect through the enjoyment of content. You can see this in action with translated text stickers and auto-generated captions.
  • Captions can now be longer to provide more context (up to 2,200 characters).
